I received a free product in exchange for an honest review.
Tot turned 6 months old just a few days ago, and although she hasn’t shown any signs of teething yet I know those fussy, grumpy baby days are approaching. Tater never wanted to use any of the teething rings or anything specifically made for teething. I’m not sure why, she just didn’t like them. So we were left to try other things. It’s so hard to figure out what is hurting and how much something hurts them. As a mom it just breaks your heart to see your little one hurt and you can’t stop it. We also don’t like to give medicine all the time either. If there are alternatives, we want to try them first.
One of the things we are going to try this time around are Amber teething necklaces. I have never tried them before, although I hear a lot about them and have been interested. Amber for Babies sent me a teething necklace for Tot to use when she begins teething, so I am eager to see what happens with this.
If you haven’t heard of them before, they are necklaces made from Amber that the babies wear, NOT chew. They aren’t anything new and have been around for a long time. The baby wears the necklace around the neck, or even the ankle, and the warmth of the baby’s skin releases succinic acid into the body. Succinic acid is already produced naturally by the body, and is a natural pain reliever and inflammation reducer, so the baby feels less pain from teething.
Here is information taken from their website:
The amber comes in contact with the warmth of your baby’s skin, it unlocks the natural healing properties within each stone. Since amber is the fossilized form of tree resin, it has special properties unlike any other piece of jewelry on the market and releases healing oils that reduce the pain and redness caused by teething. This makes the entire ordeal as painless as possible for your child.
I will most likely have her wear it on her ankle when she sleeps.
Tater didn’t start teething until 9 months, so we might have a little time before Tot starts getting teeth but I am eager to try this out and see if it works well. I have hope that it does, so that my Tot stays the happy little baby she is.
Has your little one ever used an Amber teething necklace? If so, what did you think?
UPDATE
Tot began teething shortly after I wrote this post. Since then we have tried the amber necklace on her and guess what…it works!! Tot was overall less fussy, less upset, she appeared happier as if she wasn’t experiencing any discomfort. This was a big change from her constant fussiness and whining that we noticed when she started teething.
