i love taking my phone pictures, i love my big camera of course but most of the time for my personal photos I can’t lug it around. my phone is always with me though and being a photographer i’m super picky about how my phone photos look too. i print a lot of my cell phone pictures also so i want to make sure they look good. I always get questions about what I use to edit my pictures, and most of the time it’s straight from my iPhone. I also love turning photos a bit moody and black and white. So I thought I would share some of my favorite picture apps with you.
i typically use three apps to edit my photos. the first is Snapseed. then i use VSCO and finally Afterlight. i use all of them for different things. so here we go.
i start with Snapseed and i like to use Drama. it gives the photo some contrast and enhances the highlights and shadows. i like to use the Bright filters.
i do like the Vintage filter and use that a lot depending on the photo i am editing.
next, i go to VSCO and i love to use this app for black and white photos. i also use the sharpen tool a lot since you can’t always get the perfect shot with you phone, this comes in handy when you need to sharpen up a picture.
i use Afterlight usually for just one thing. the frames. you can use it to frame your photo for Instagram so that the whole photo shows up and it won’t be cropped to a square.
there is one other app that i might use occasionally. it’s called Beaute2 that i used in the last two photos. i will use it to smooth out skin if i get a good enough close-up shot.
the most important thing about taking good phone pictures is the lighting, well i guess that’s the case using any camera but especially your phone! if not you can expect blurry, fuzzy and noisy photos. most of these were taken right by a window.
