For Mother’s Day this year I was whisked away to somewhere very special. We decided to take a road trip to Dallas, Texas and spend a few days enjoying the city. Even though Dallas is not very far from where we live, I find that these unexpected weekend road trips where we have no agenda, other than to be together as a family are some of my most favorite memories I have with my family.
One of the most important things for us when traveling is to find places that can accommodate my son and his food allergies. One of the way’s to travel that we have found are most convenient for us is to travel to places and stay in rooms that have full kitchens. That means a full-size fridge and oven with a nearby store so that we can get groceries and cook for him as needed. We also need a large enough space for our family of five to feel comfortable in. When we decided to take a road trip up to Dallas a few weeks ago, we were so excited to find that the Hyatt House Dallas/Las Colinas had all of this.

When we travel I like to be sure that we will have enough space so that we feel comfortable and rested before we decide to venture out into a new city. The Hyatt House definitely delivered. We stayed in the Two Bedroom King Suite. The master bedroom was spacious and included a King Size bed while the kids’ room included a Queen Size bed which was more than enough space for them to all sleep.
The living area included a sofa, a TV and DVD player, a dining table, chair and it’s own office space and was more than enough space for our family of five.
But the part that had me the most excited was the full kitchen! As mentioned before, we only travel if we have access to a full-kitchen because of our son’s limited diet. The Hyatt House not only has the full-sized fridge, oven and a microwave but the cabinets come stocked with dishes, pans and everything that you need to cook. Once we got settled in, we drove down the street to a grocery store to stock up on food for the weekend. Not only is this safe for our son but we also save on tons of money when we travel and make our own food. And you don’t have to worry about the dishes either, the amazing housekeeping staff takes care of that for you!
Each morning we went down to the complimentary breakfast they had in the lobby area and the food was hot, fresh and delish! They even had a custom Omelet bar with someone there making them hot and fresh each morning. They were so good!
The location is perfect. It’s right in the heart of the DFW Metroplex with lots of options for dining and entertainment just right around the corner. It’s about ten minutes from downtown Dallas and its lively West End, 16¾ miles from the Dallas Cowboys’ Texas Stadium, next door to the Tournament Players’ Course at Las Colinas, home of the annual Byron Nelson Golf Tournament, and the AAYBA & USSSA Baseball Tournaments!
We chose to visit Legoland Discovery Center and the kids had a blast. It was the very first time we had visited a Legoland Discovery Center and we all had so much fun. The center is indoor and they have some fun Lego-themed rides, play areas and even a 4D Cinema that the kids’ absolutely loved. Legoland Discovery Center is located inside of Grapevine Mills Mall so even after we left Legoland we did a little shopping before heading back to the hotel.
