DIY HALLOWEEN CHRISTMAS INSPIRED ELF ON THE SHELF COSTUME

I have always liked the idea of bringing Christmas early with a festive Halloween costume. Last year my girls got to dress-up at school and wear a book character. One of their favorite books is their Elf on the Shelf book. They are obsessed with our elf Olivia. And yes, we let our girls touch the elf. We don’t follow “elf protocol” to a T. Ha. So she is still sitting on their shelf in the bedroom and gets played with often. When the girls said they wanted to be an Elf on the Shelf for Halloween I thought it was a great idea. Did you know that you can get the Elf on the Shelf collar pattern on the elf on the shelf website? I’ll link it below with the other items I used to create this costume.

  1. Long-sleeve red pj’s.
  2. White felt
  3. Scissors
  4. Fabric glue
  5. Santa Hat
  6. Elf on the shelf collar pattern
  7. Velcro Adhesive Dots
  8. Poster board

I purchased my red long sleeved pj’s from Primary.com but I have also seen some at Target and Amazon. You need white felt from any fabric store, scissors to cut your felt, fabric glue to glue the two felt pattern cut outs together, the velcro dots are used to allow the collar to be easily put on or taken off any shirt. You’ll need a red Santa hat. In order to make your Santa hat pointy like an elf hat, you will need to cut a poster board, sized to the inside of the hat and use tape to roll it like a pyramid shape, insert that into the hat and tape inside. Don’t forget to cut off the puff ball at the end of the hat if you want, we chose to leave ours on.
