Excited to share with you my second project of the girls playroom. It’s all coming together pretty quickly. Although, I have put the painting the baseboards on the backburner. I’ll leave that less fun project for another day. Today I have a really fun tutorial inspired by a project I found on Pinterest.
I’ve been wanting to make a little reading nook for my daughter for the longest time because she loves books. But until we had carpet put in in the playroom, we really had no place to put it. So today I’m going to show you how to make this fun Whimsy Reading Nook.
Here’s what you need:
XL Embroidery Hoop – You only need the part with the opening.
4 white curtains
1 spool of ribbon
1 drywall/ceiling hook
Drill or Screwdriver to install hook depending on what kind you get.
Here’s what I did:
Take the embroidery hoop apart, you will only use the outer hoop that opens up.
You will need the hardware to close the hoop back up so put those aside for now.
Put curtains onto hoop and then clamp the two ends together and fasten back up with the hardware.
Now you have a hoop of curtains. I used only 4 but you can use more if you want to make it more whimsy.
Next, cut your ribbon and wrap it around the hoop between the panels and measure how far you want it to hang from the ceiling. I used the entire spool of mine. I have 4 ribbons, one in between each panel. It hangs evenly this way.
Tie a knot at the top with all the pieces.
Install your hook. I used a white drywall/ceiling hook that I bought for a few dollars from Wal Mart.
Finally, hang the ribbon on the hook and there you have it!
She loves it, as you can see from the photos.
The huge bear we have in the center she got as a birthday present and she enjoys sitting on it. If I didn’t have the bear I would probably put some pillows and a blanket in there.
A Whimsy Reading Nook for your little one.
