“FOR MY HONEY” OATMEAL & HONEY HOMEMADE SUGAR SCRUB

I love homemade sugar scrubs because they are so easy to make and make one of the best handmade gifts for any occasion. Making a homemade sugar scrub literally takes me 5 minutes to make. I can make a couple of different ones when the girls are napping and then enjoy them later after I put the girls to bed.

They are my excuse to take a long uninterrupted bath when the girls go to bed. As long as I have an hour in the evenings to myself, quiet and calm, then I feel refreshed the next day ready to take on anything.

Today I have an Oatmeal & Honey homemade sugar scrub recipe. Here is what you need:

Oatmeal Honey Sugar Scrub essential oils

You can use ANY of your favorite oils for this mix. I have tried everything from melrose, frankincense, tea tree oil and lavender. Use your favorite! Oils are great for your skin so you’re going to benefit regardless of what oil you choose.

Combine all ingredients except the oil and mix. Make sure it’s at a consistency that you like. If you want it more smooth just add more coconut oil, more course then add more sugar. Add in your essential oils last then mix again.

Put into a pretty bowl or jar and enjoy!

If you’re giving it as a gift, add a ribbon, bow or tag and you have the perfect little handmade gift. I love to give these as little gifts, either as thank you gifts or even around the holidays.

If you’ve never had a body scrub before let me tell you, they are fantastic for your skin. The sugar acts like a gentle exfoliator and gets rid of all the dead skin cells. After a scrub your skin is so soft and smooth. My favorite place to use my scrub is my feet after a looong day with the kids and chasing a crawling baby.

Although you can certainly bathe with this scrub, if you’re really looking to exfoliate then I recommend using the scrub immediately after you have bathed. After you have patted yourself dry, apply some scrub to each part of your body and start scrubbing. I usually start with my arms and work my way down to my feet. Spend a good amount of time on each part and you will really feel a difference in your skin.

After you’re done, make sure to rinse off once more to make sure you get all the sugar off you.

This recipe makes about twice as much as what’s in the picture. If you want more then just double the ingredients. Want a tougher exfoliator ? Use salt instead!  Just keep in mind that salt will dry out your skin so if you have really dry skin to begin with you may want to stick to sugar. If you use salt just make sure to moisturize with a good moisturizer.
